Rehabilitating Khans and Khanates: History as Dissent in Soviet Tatarstan during and after the Thaw
This talk explores Tatar intellectuals' attempts through artistic and scholarly literature to make sense of their historical connection to the Golden Horde and its successor state, the Kazan Khanate.
