Anna Sharogradskaya is the founding director of the Regional Press Institute (RPI), a non-governmental organization based in Saint Petersburg (Russia) that has promoted the formation and development of independent mass media outlets in Russia for almost 30 years. Ms. Sharogradskaya has trained and consulted for practicing journalists in programs based in Russia, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Georgia, and the Czech Republic. For more than two decades she taught courses in Russian and contemporary Russian media as a visiting professor in the IU Summer Workshop in Slavic and East European Languages (now known as the Language Workshop). In 2015, the REEI presented her with its Distinguished Service Award.
