Location: Marriot Downtown Chicago , 7th, Room 1

ASEEES Roundtable "Bridging the Policy Divide: Lessons from Five Experts on Linking Scholarship and Policy"

This roundtable convenes five noted scholars who have built careers around successfully linking scholarship and policy. Attention will focus on bridging the divide between research and policy on Russia. The roundtable participants will share best practices and pitfalls in approaches to "bridging the policy gap," especially during this new chapter in U.S.-Russia relations. The session will be of special interest to junior scholars and students. PhD students and postdoctoral fellows affiliated with the three institutions who received Carnegie Corporation of New York grants for Strengthening Russian Studies will be strongly encouraged to attend the roundtable.

Participants: Michael Kimmage, Catholic U, Chair; Jeffrey Mankoff, Center for Strategic and International Studies; Alina Polyakova, Atlantic Council; John Willard Slocum, Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (Spain); and Celeste Ann Wallander, U.S.-Russia Foundation

Regina Smyth's article  for PONARS Eurasia, "Tips from the Experts: Bridging the Scholarship-Policy Divide," discusses the ides presented in this roundtable.
