Russian Studies Workshop

I am a historian of late and post-Soviet Russia with an interest in LGBTQ studies. I am currently finishing my dissertation "Russian Blue: The Formation of Russian LGBTQ Identity during the 1990s," which looks at gay print media from the period as well as mainstream Russian press and archival sources to explore how issues such as political activism, public health, criminality, and the 'sexual revolution' produced new identities for LGBTQ Russians after the long silence of the Soviet period.
