Alex Craver is a PhD Candidate in History at Northern Illinois University with a focus on Environmental History and the Soviet Union. His dissertation project deals with the history of the Soviet Rubber and Synthetic Rubber Industry and how it contributes to the history of modern world trade, plants, imperialism, industry, and science. At NIU, he has works in the Institute for Environmental Studies teaching courses on the Environmental Humanities and American Environmental Politics. Previously, he has worked for the Academic Technology division of University of Wisconsin’s Department of Information Technology developing Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and supporting university faculty in developing the online side of courses in learning management systems like Blackboard, Moodle and Desire2Learn.
