About Clare Angeroth Franks

Clare Angeroth Franks is a recent graduate of Indiana University with an M.A. in Russian and East European Studies. Her research focuses on Arctic indigenous communities, mental health, and human rights. Her M.A. thesis, chaired by RSW faculty associate Dr. Kathryn Graber, examined the connection between indigenous language knowledge and suicide rates within Arctic communities of the Russian Federation and Canada. In 2020, she became an ASEEES Internship Grant Program Fellow and is conducting legal research on human rights issues in the Russian Federation. She is Curriculum Coordinator for the Russian and East European Institute at Indiana University
