Kathleen is a PhD student in the Department of Political Science at Indiana University. She specializes in International Relations and Comparative Politics. She is also pursuing a self-designed minor titled "The Politics and Development of Post-Soviet Eurasia." In 2015, Kathleen earned her B.A. in Foreign Affairs and Russian Language & Literature from the University of Virginia. In 2018, she earned her Master of Arts in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her M.A. thesis examined the evolution of elite mobility and political patronage in the North Caucasian republics during the Soviet and post-Soviet periods. As a PhD student, Kathleen has continued her research on subnational elites in the Russian Federation. She is also developing a new research agenda focused on international institutions in the post-Soviet space.
